Tom (he/him) joined the ACLU of Utah as a Staff Attorney in January of 2024.

Originally from Massachusetts, Tom earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Loyola University of New Orleans and his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. In law school, he represented incarcerated people with disabilities, challenging oppressive and illegal conditions of confinement as a Student Attorney at Denver Law’s Civil Rights Clinic and received the Arnold & Porter Civil Rights Endowed Scholarship, a scholarship awarded to law students based on demonstrated commitment to civil rights, public service, and academic achievement.

After law school, Tom worked as an Assistant Public Defender at the Alaska Public Defender Agency, where he fought to defend the rights and dignity of indigent people accused criminally across Alaska.

Outside work, Tom enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and traveling with his partner, Sandra, and their two dogs, Duke and Birdie.

 

Tom is admitted to practice law in Alaska and is pending admission in Utah.
