The ACLU of Utah has received many inquiries from the public and media regarding our position on the April 3rd raid which took 416 Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints children into state custody after allegations of some sexual and physical abuse.
Karen McCreary, Executive Director of the ACLU of Utah, states, "The government has the obligation to protect children from danger, and the obligation to do so constitutionally, particularly given the impact on this community." The ACLU of Texas is following the situation.
