On October 18, 2018, the ACLU of Utah hosted a special panel discussion featuring law enforcement, treatment experts, social workers, and criminal defense attorneys about the impact of Operation Rio Grande. Over 100 people attended the event at the Centro Cívico Mexicano on the west side of Salt Lake City.
The panel included the following participants:
- Matt Melville, Director of Homeless Services at Catholic Community Services of Utah;
- Kate Conyers, former public defender and now private defense attorney at Conyers & Nix;
- Adam Cohen, CEO of Odyssey House;
- Mike Brown, Chief of the SLC Police Department
