21 08 KYR reminder sq v2 red

With students returning to school this month, the ACLU of Utah wants to remind everyone that students do not check their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse door. Public schools have a responsibility to create a safe and equitable learning environment for ALL students. We have collected local and national ACLU Know Your Rights materials to help students maintain their rights at school.

For over 60 years, the Supreme Court of the United States has recognized that education is a “right that must be made available to all on equal terms.”

While there have been some legal developments over summer vacation, one thing remains clear—the U.S. Constitution protects:

>> Student athletes
>> Black students
>> Students with disabilities
>> Immigrant students
>> LGBTQ+ students
>> ALL students

Over the next few weeks, we will provide updates about recent court decisions. In the meantime, review the local and national ACLU Know Your Rights materials linked below. Plus, you can find all of the ACLU of Utah's Know Your Rights library at this link: www.acluutah.org/kyr
