Jason joined our staff in November 2017 to manage the organization’s branding, social media, and communications strategies. Most recently, Jason worked in communications and policy for the Utah Health Policy Project (UHPP), where he helped launch and sustain the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and other health reform initiatives in Utah, including Medicaid Expansion.
Trained as a journalist, Jason served as a staff editor at both Backpacker and Outside magazines, and he began his reporting career in Washington, D.C. covering politics on Capitol Hill. Jason’s first job was a summer internship at the ACLU of Ohio, and he liked it enough to intern at ACLU affiliates in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and the National Legal office in New York. He also worked in economic development wth a nonprofit affiliated with Harvard Business School.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, and received a fellowship to earn a graduate degree in Modern British History at Scotland’s University of Edinburgh. Jason lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, where is he active in local civic issues, along with his wife Jackie, a family physician, their two sons and two Australian cattle dogs.
