Jason joined our staff in November 2017 to manage the organization’s branding, social media, and communications strategies. Most recently, Jason worked in communications and policy for the Utah Health Policy Project (UHPP), where he helped launch and sustain the Affordable Care Act (ACA) reforms in Utah.
Trained as a journalist, Jason served as a staff editor at both Backpacker and Outside magazines, and he began his reporting career in Washington, D.C. covering politics on Capitol Hill. Jason’s first job was a summer internship at the ACLU of Ohio, and he liked it enough to intern at ACLU offices in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and National Legal in New York.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, and received a fellowship to earn a graduate degree in Second World War history at Scotland’s University of Edinburgh. Jason and his wife Jackie, a family physician, live in Salt Lake City along with their two sons and an energetic Australian cattle dog.
