Talking Points:

  • Discrimination in employment and housing against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people violates core American values of fairness and equality by discriminating against qualified individuals based on characteristics unrelated to the job or ability to secure housing.
  • Currently, Utah law provides NO protection against discrimination in housing and employment for LGBT individuals, despite the fact that the majority of Utahns believe that state law already provides such protection. It's time to remedy this misperception by passing SB 51, Statewide Nondiscrimination Amendment Protections.
  • Our state should join with the growing number of Utah localities and businesses that recognize that discrimination against LGBT individuals persists in Utah and that it should not be tolerated. Please cast your vote in support of SB 51, Statewide Nondiscrimination Amendment Protections.
